About me:

Hi! I’m a proud graduate of Gray’s School of Art here in Aberdeen.  My Honours degree project was a bit unorthodox; potatoes!  While researching my Honours degree project, I couldn’t help but notice how much trash our civilization produces without a second thought.  It hit me, what if we could keep making "trash," but ensure that it’s completely biodegradable, so not harming the planet? Or, even better, create something so long-lasting that it could be passed down to the next generation?

That’s where my journey with potatoes began.  They grow everywhere, are super easy to cultivate, and have sparked an unexpected love for chemistry in me.  Before I knew it, I was using innovative techniques to develop a biodegradable material made from potatoes—yes, you read that right!  Now, these potato lampshades are just the beginning, and I can’t wait to show you the endless possibilities that the humble spud can offer.

At Practical Art, we’re on a mission to change how we think about waste, combining creativity and sustainability. Whether it’s something that will biodegrade gracefully or a product that will last forever, our goal is to ensure it doesn't harm the planet.  So, join me on this eco-friendly adventure, let’s create trash that’s good for the Earth, or, better yet, heirlooms to last a lifetime!
